Case Study - Andre

Enforcement Officer

"After registering online, I received a phone call from them the very next day. I felt dubious. On the other side of the phone was Emma. I was surprised she had such a happy voice filled with enthusiasm. I attended the appointment and the enthusiasm and willingness to help was on her face as well not just in her voice.

Later on, Radical called me for a  position at Marston Holdings. I wasn't interested in the (Civil Enforcement Officer) job at all. Why would I get a job where people are angry at me for doing my job? But by working with the "ball of kindness and positivity" that is Lee, my mind was changed completely. I started to see all the benefits of the job and that it had more positive sides.

I say "ball’" because it's like they he has an aura of kindness and positivity around him so the negative sides of the job were starting to look like challenges to overcome that would help me grow. It was getting exciting.

I don't know all the Radicals, but Emma, Lee and Glenn are the ones who inspired me to take this job."

Andre was one of thousands of EU nationals who was given the opportunity to come off the street in the government's ‘Everybody In’ campaign – a ‘street sweep’ which took place over 72 hours and which resulted in over 90% of the rough sleeper population in London being housed in the interest of ‘public safety’ during the height of the pandemic. He, along with 79 other street homeless Radicals, were supported by our team to secure employment that would enable them to leave homelessness behind them, for good. Two years after the project finished, 78% of the men and women we supported to secure employment remained in work.
