Case Studies SHL

Lucy Adler, Director of Diversity & Inclusion at global technology business, SHL, reached out to Radical Recruit with a view to partnering with an organisation who could truly help them support and expand on their EDI strategy.

When Lucy had a new role come up to grow her international EDI team, she decided to take the approach of advertising directly, alongside appointing Radical to source, screen and submit candidates for their shortlist. This was a senior role for a Head of Inclusion Programmes, working on leading the inclusion activities worldwide for SHL.

Radical screened 40 applicants in total, spending a minimum of one hour with each candidate to discuss their skills, experience, and motivation for applying for the role and how their long-term career plans would fit with SHL’s objectives. Each candidate was then provided 1-2-1 support to ensure their CVs were as strong as possible and were guided to create impactful and compelling cover letters.

Lucy shortlisted five direct applicants and five candidates from Radical for first round interview. Following first round interviews, 10 candidates were reduced to three – all of which were candidates submitted to SHL by Radical.

After final round interviews – (Lucy said she “could have hired all of them”) – we were delighted that SHL extended an offer to a Radical candidate; an incredible, young, care-experienced woman of colour, who had faced significant adversity throughout her life, who immediately accepted and started with the business four weeks later.
