The Changemaker Challenge

New Title

The Changemaker Challenge

Each Challenge is meticulously tailored to our client's needs, addressing the common issue of businesses committing to diversity and inclusion without translating these commitments into actionable steps. Our mission is to empower participants to drive substantial change in their workplaces, regardless of their roles or seniority.

At the core of most Changemaker Challenges is our dedication to unpack diversity in all its dimensions, delving beyond traditional constructs to encompass socio-economic aspects such as class, and experiences like domestic violence and involvement with the care system. This segment typically comprises the first half of the day, along with other key themes:

  • Privilege: Exploring the impact of privilege and its role in shaping experiences and opportunities.
  • Power: Grasping power dynamics and their influence on relationships and decision-making.
  • Intersectionality: Recognising the interplay of various identities and experiences, each with its unique challenges.
  • Unconscious Bias: Addressing biases that may inadvertently influence perceptions and decisions.
  • Anti-Bias Leadership: Encouraging proactive steps to counter bias and foster inclusivity.
  • Trauma-Informed Leadership: Developing leadership approaches that consider the potential impact of trauma on individuals, cultivating environments of sensitivity, support, and empowerment for colleagues with marginalized identities.

Our transformative learning experience blends various methodologies through our hybrid learning model, combining:

  • Facilitation: Experienced facilitators foster a safe, supportive environment for open discussions and knowledge-sharing.
  • Experiential Learning: Delegates collaborate on practical tasks with our Radicals, individuals with diverse backgrounds, and perspectives. This hands-on approach nurtures empathy and understanding.
  • Design Thinking Exercises: We employ design thinking techniques to stimulate creative problem-solving and ideation for diversity-related challenges identified within the business.
  • Shadow Work: A psychological and introspective practice delving into the hidden ("shadow") aspects of one's personality, beliefs, and emotions. This approach explores conscious and unconscious elements, addressing suppressed or socially unacceptable traits.
  • Storytelling: Stories are potent tools for cultivating empathy and forging connections. We encourage delegates to share their experiences, creating a space for meaningful dialogue. Additionally, we share experiences of Radical individuals who have encountered bias.
  • Consultancy: We act as co-pilots and allies in navigating diversity and inclusion challenges identified due to the provision. Our ongoing consultancy supports strategy, policy, and initiative implementation, bridging the gap between theory and practice, transforming program insights into actionable steps aligned with your organization's goals. This also fosters accountability among delegates.

The synergy of these elements ensures an engaging, impactful learning journey, equipping participants with tools, knowledge, and language to drive positive change within their workplaces.

Each Challenge is customized to your organization's learning objectives, strategically contextualized for maximum impact. Throughout the program, our aim is to trigger numerous "privilege penny drops" and "eureka moments," where delegates unearth best practices, discover hidden resources, and brainstorm actionable solutions. We foster critical thinking, idea generation, and open discussions concerning your current organizational culture and practices impacting individuals from diverse backgrounds or marginalized identities. Following the program, we provide a comprehensive post-event report capturing group insights, observations, and recommendations. This report serves as a vital resource informing and shaping future diversity and inclusion initiatives.

The Challenge surpasses a mere training program; it's an opportunity to hold up a mirror and embark on the necessary work to empower individuals and teams as catalysts for change, bridging the gap between rhetoric and meaningful action. To ensure lasting impact and accountability, our consultancy approach extends well beyond the initial Changemaker Challenge. Recognizing that real work unfolds after the program, as delegates return to their workplaces fuelled with inspiration for change. As part of our commitment to your organization's success, we provide a day's worth of consultancy support to aid in implementing solutions ideated during the second half of day one. Our consultants collaborate with your delegates during the prototype phase, offering guidance and expertise to refine and shape proposed solutions. We understand translating ideas into tangible actions can be challenging, and our consultants serve as critical friends, offering valuable insights and feedback to fortify the proposed initiatives that delegates commit to trial.

Each Challenge spans 1.5 days, ideally beginning in person with the final half-day being either in person or virtual if physical attendance isn't feasible. For a group booking of 80/4 provisions, the challenge is offered at £800 per head, reduced from the usual cost of £1200 per delegate. Each provision covers:

  • Three-hours of consultancy to grasp the brief, design the curriculum, and validate with relevant stakeholders in your business. This entails designing two programs, including one for virtual delivery.
