Case Study - Charde

Charity Role Working with Children & Young People

"Radical helped me to fly in the workplace! From supporting me to get interview ready, to ensuring I started the job well and had the support I needed for around one year post placement – they really look after their candidates and their clients. I feel very lucky to have discovered them and couldn’t recommend them more highly."

When Charde came to us, she was care-experienced and navigating some pretty tumultuous circumstances. Despite these challenges, she was determined to find a role that aligned with her career aspirations and passion for working with children and young people.

On Tuesday, we identified a new role that perfectly matched her career goals. The role was with the Blagrave Trust, an organisation dedicated to empowering young people and ensuring their voices are heard in decisions that affect them. The Trust does important work in the children and young people space, making it an ideal fit for Charde.

The position was full-time with a starting salary of £24,000, offering numerous opportunities for learning and development in a sector she was passionate about. The Blagrave Trust is committed to employing young people so that their team is representative of the communities they serve. By doing so, they ensure that their organisation remains closely connected to the needs and perspectives of young people.

Jo, the former director of the Blagrave Trust, shared her positive experience working with Radical Recruit: “Working with Radical was incredibly easy. The calibre of candidates they presented was outstanding, and we were thrilled to welcome someone as talented as Charde to our team.”

Understanding the urgency of Charde's situation, we worked hard and fast to redevelop her CV and submit it to the Blagrave Trust. By Thursday, Charde had been invited to an interview.

Understandably, Charde was incredibly nervous. This was to be her first interview for a paid role. Despite the odds and her anxiety, Charde aced both the in-tray exercise and the panel interview. Her preparation, determination, and the support she received from Radical paid off – she got the job!

Charde’s success story highlights the profound impact that timely and tailored support can have on young people facing significant challenges. Radical Recruit’s swift action and dedicated assistance not only helped Charde secure employment but also provided her with a stable foundation to build a career in a field she is passionate about.

For employers, hiring young people with lived experience brings fresh perspectives and resilience. Creating opportunities and workplaces where young people can thrive benefits organisations by fostering diversity and inclusion, leading to more innovative and effective solutions. The Blagrave Trust’s commitment to employing young people like Charde ensures their team is representative of the communities they serve, fostering a more inclusive and impactful organisation.

Charde’s journey from registration to employment in just a few days exemplifies the power of support and opportunity. Radical Recruit and the Blagrave Trust’s collaboration not only transformed Charde’s career prospects but also strengthened the Trust’s team with a passionate and dedicated individual. This case underscores the importance of creating pathways for young people to thrive, benefiting both the individuals and the organisations that employ them.
