Meet Gabi! She is incredibly bright, an excellent communicator, can problem-solve on her feet, and has loads of great leadership qualities. Gabi was a sound technician working in the theatre space before the pandemic struck. The closure of theatres and other live performance venues left her without a job, facing the daunting task of finding new employment in a different sector.
Gabi approached Radical Recruit seeking assistance to pivot into a different sector and find an interim job to pay her bills during the lockdown. Recognising her caring nature and past experience of looking after a family member, we suggested she try care work. Despite having no formal experience in the field, Gabi was willing to give it a go.
To facilitate Gabi’s transition, we took swift action: we overhauled her CV to highlight her transferable skills and experience, provided tailored interview coaching to build her confidence and improve her interview performance, and connected her with a care provider within our network. Within a week of meeting Gabi, she secured a position as a carer. However, the story doesn’t end there. In less than three months, Gabi was promoted to coordinator, demonstrating her natural leadership abilities and adaptability. She now leads teams of carers, providing essential services to the community’s most vulnerable during challenging times.
