IT Transformation - WPP

Junaid had so much potential. A tech-savvy, ambitious and determined young man who had been teaching children coding skills in a voluntary capacity, he was doing everything he could to better his life prospects

When we met Junaid he was homeless. Like many young BAME people, the pandemic disproportionately and adversely impacted his living situation and he was sofa surfing to get by.

Despite this, he was determined to change his life around and, with a bit of support from our team and an awesome fixed term opportunity at Reward Gateway, he not only managed to land the job, he's also moved into a place of his own to call home.

“Radical helped me springboard into the job market in a way I could never have imagined doing on my own. I managed to secure a position at Reward Gateway, a wonderful company who take the wellbeing of their employees very seriously. They have all been extremely welcoming and the whole company feels like a family. I have been learning Project Management skills which I never would have thought would be something taught in an internship, working hands on with actual clients. I am so thankful for everything Radical has done for me!"

Then, a graduate opportunity came up with WPP in their IT Transformation department and he, along with 11 other Radicals – most of whom did not have degrees(!) – secured a great role which offered real career progression opportunities with a progressive organisation that hired for skill, experience and attitude, rather than degree qualifications.

Over a year later and Junaid, along with the other Radical recruited on the graduate scheme, remain in post.
